The Old Country Store really was a country store for most of its
existence. In 1978 quilts and crafts found a home in the handsome building. Its second
floor homes The People's Place Quilt Museum. Revolving exhibits, usually featuring
pre-1940 quilts from Amish and Mennonite makers, hang there. Quilt

On occasion, The People's Place Quilt Museum sponsors public programs. At
this event, poet Julia Kasdorf (right) read her poetry to the audience for part of an
evening focusing on the Big Valley Amish, while curator Phyllis Pellman Good (left) spoke
about the quilting traditions.
